After Dark

After Dark
is a sleek, captivating novel that unfolds in the bewitching hours of Tokyo, between midnight and dawn. The story follows two sisters: Yuri, a fashion model drifting into a deep, mysterious slumber, and Mari, a young student whose solitary night at a Denny’s leads her into encounters with strangers whose lives are far removed from her own. Through interactions with a jazz trombonist, a tough love hotel manager, her spirited staff, and a Chinese prostitute brutalised by a businessman, Mari’s night becomes a surreal journey blurring the lines between reality and the metaphysical.
