Apologia pro Vita Sua

John Henry Newman, a prominent figure in the early Victorian Church of England, shocked many when he converted to Roman Catholicism in 1845. His “Apologia,” written nearly two decades later, is a masterful response to critics, particularly Charles Kingsley, and delves into his spiritual journey from childhood, his role in the Tractarian Movement, and his difficult decision to leave the church of his birth. While serving as an autobiography and defense, the “Apologia” also examines the essence of Christianity and its relevance in the modern world.
