About the Author
Sappho
(c. 630-570 BCE) was an archaic Greek poet from the island of Lesbos. She is known for her lyrical poetry, written to be sung and accompanied by a lyre. Most of her poetry is now lost, and what survives exists in fragments, yet her influence on Western literature is immense. Her work often explores themes of love, desire, and the beauty of the natural world, particularly focusing on relationships between women.
