Discourses of Awareness Development, Social Movements and the Practices of Freedom in Nepal

Discourses of Awareness Development, Social Movements and the Practices of Freedom in Nepal
examines how development initiatives and projects of social transformation have shaped new forms of imagination and political engagement in Nepal. Drawing on historical and ethnographic analysis, Fuzikura Tatsuro traces the effects of both successful and failed efforts since the 1950s, including their influence on village leadership, Maoist revolutionary visions, and movements to liberate bonded laborers. The book offers a nuanced account of how ideas about individual and collective change emerge through lived social and political experience.
