Getting Lost

Getting Lost
offers an intimate and raw glimpse into the life of one of France’s most acclaimed, award-winning writers, Annie Ernaux. This candid diary traces the year and a half of her passionate, clandestine affair with a younger, married Russian diplomat. Set in 1989, Ernaux, divorced and nearing fifty with two grown sons, documents her emotional turbulence, vivid longing, and the overpowering grip of desire that defines her existence during this period. Unlike her novel
Simple Passion
, which is inspired by this very affair,
Getting Lost
reveals her unfiltered, immediate reflections, exposing her vulnerability and relentless yearning.
