Late Essays 2006-2017

"Late Essays 2006-2017" continues J. M. Coetzee's acclaimed series of literary criticism, following "Stranger Shores" and "Inner Workings." This volume compiles his essays written between 2006 and 2017, offering incisive commentary on a diverse array of international authors and literary works.
Coetzee, a Nobel laureate himself, serves as a discerning guide through a wide range of subjects, from Daniel Defoe in the 18th century to his contemporary Philip Roth. The collection demonstrates his long-standing interest in German literature, with analyses of Goethe, Hölderlin, Kleist, and Walser. It includes four dedicated essays on fellow Nobel laureate Samuel Beckett, alongside examinations of Australian writers Patrick White, Les Murray, and Gerald Murnane.
