Making New Nepal

Making New Nepal
delves into one of South Asia's most significant political shifts—the fall of Nepal's monarchy in 2006 and the birth of a democratic secular republic in 2008. Drawing from comprehensive ethnographic research conducted between 2003 and 2015, Amanda Snellinger captures the political awakening of an activist generation during Nepal's decade-long civil war and the vibrant democratic street protests. Through the compelling narratives of five young revolutionary activists, the book unveils their transition into roles within the newly formed party system, shedding light on the evolving landscape of Nepali politics.
