Nepalis Inside and Outside Nepal

This collection of essays explores the multifaceted social dynamics of Nepal and its diaspora. It delves into the rapid transformations occurring within the country, examining the impact of urbanization, evolving ethnic relations, and shifts in traditional occupations. The volume also addresses intimate social structures, including marriage, kinship, gender roles, and the challenges of drug use and the Maoist insurgency.
Further chapters investigate Nepal's transnational connections, analyzing the experiences of Gurkha soldiers, the development of tourism, the lives of migrant workers, and the emergence of ethnic movements.
