Quantum Computing from Colossus to Qubits

John Gribbin's "Quantum Computing from Colossus to Qubits" offers an accessible journey into the quantum computing revolution, tracing its origins from early electronic computers to the groundbreaking potential of quantum technology.
This study revisits the development of computing, beginning with Alan Turing's work on the Enigma machine, and explains how quantum theory paved the way for modern quantum computers. Gribbin explores the core principles of quantum mechanics, such as superposition, which allow these machines to process information in fundamentally new ways. He updates his perspective on quantum reality, advocating for a many-worlds interpretation where multiple realities coexist.
Beyond theoretical physics, the book delves into practical applications of quantum computing. Readers will discover how this technology could lead to machines capable of intuitive learning, unhackable communication systems, and potentially even concepts like faster-than-light communication and teleportation.
