Shadows on the Grass

Isak Dinesen continues her captivating narrative of life in Kenya, first introduced in the memorable “Out of Africa,” published as Karen Blixen. Through four heartfelt stories, she expresses her deep affection for the African people, their dignity, and traditions, as well as the breathtaking beauty and untamed nature of the landscape. The first three stories were penned in the 1950s, while the final one, “Echoes from the Hills,” was crafted specifically for this collection in the summer of 1960, during the author’s seventies. Together, they offer a poignant conclusion to her reflections on Africa.
