Shri Vishnu Sahasranama Strotam

At Sanskriti Press of Rupa Publications, we are proud to bring the profound wisdom of ancient India to the modern reader, and this book on the Vishnu Sahasranama is a testament to that effort. The Vishnu Sahasranama, also known as the Thousand Names of Vishnu, was first chanted in praise of Lord Krishna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra during the Mahabharata, a war between two branches of the same family—the Kurus and the Pandavas. The Vishnu Sahasranama holds immense power. It is believed that chanting these thousand names of Vishnu brings immense benefits, even if the full meaning is not known. Chanting or listening to the Sahasranama can help overcome negative planetary influences, promote spiritual growth, remove financial difficulties, and relieve stress. Furthermore, it is said to create a protective shield around the mind and body, bring peace to the home, and cure physical ailments such as infertility. Through the recitation of these sacred names, may you find peace, protection, spiritual growth, and the blessings of Lord Vishnu.
