The Bullet and the Ballot Box

The Bullet and the Ballot Box offers a comprehensive look into Nepal's Maoist revolution, which began in 1996 with limited public support and an ideology widely considered obsolete. By 2008, the Maoists had gained significant access to state power, with their ambitious plans for social transformation dominating the national agenda. Aditya Adhikari provides a detailed and sweeping account of this transformative decade, drawing on diverse sources, including novels, letters, and diaries, to illuminate both the historical context and the profound human drama of the rebellion.
