The Campaigns of Alexander

Arrian’s “Campaigns of Alexander” offers the most reliable account of Alexander the Great, written over four centuries after his death. Drawing from his own military experience, Arrian provides a vivid portrayal of Alexander’s relentless pursuit of glory, detailing his suppression of the Theban rebellion, his conquest of Persia, and his campaigns across Egypt, India, and Babylon. The narrative captures Alexander as both a charismatic leader and a man driven by boundless ambition, who faced the temptations of power and was revered as a god during his lifetime.
