The Meritocracy Trap

In 'The Meritocracy Trap,' Yale Law professor Daniel Markovits presents a radical argument challenging the widespread belief in meritocracy. He contends that far from being a system that promotes opportunity, meritocracy has evolved into a mechanism for the dynastic concentration of wealth and privilege, exacerbating political, economic, and psychological crises across society. Markovits asserts that this system entraps not only the struggling middle class but also the seemingly successful elite, demanding crushing intensity and perpetuating inequality.
