Into the Magic Shop

Into the Magic Shop
is an inspiring memoir that blends neuroscience, compassion, and the power of the human spirit. Dr. James Doty, now a world-renowned neurosurgeon, shares the deeply personal story of his troubled youth in California and a chance encounter with a woman named Ruth, who taught him a unique combination of mindfulness, visualization, and heart-opening techniques.
Ruth’s teachings transformed Doty’s inner world, guiding him from poverty and adversity into a successful medical career. But as his achievements grew, he lost touch with the compassion that had fueled his journey—until life’s challenges brought him full circle. This story is not just about the science of the brain, but the magic of the heart.
The book gained global attention when BTS member RM credited it as a major influence, helping spread its message of self-love and inner healing to a new generation.
