Mahasatipatthana Sutta

This profound text offers a practical methodology for cultivating self-knowledge and liberation through direct observation. It outlines a four-fold system for establishing awareness: mindfulness of the body, sensations, mind, and mental qualities. This ancient teaching emphasizes experiencing reality directly within oneself, rather than through imagination or intellectualization.
The discourse presents a clear path for overcoming sorrow and suffering by diligently observing all phenomena that arise within the body and mind. It guides practitioners to develop ardent, alert, and mindful attention, thereby reducing covetousness and ill-will.
Considered a primary discourse on meditation, it details how to maintain and strengthen mindfulness continuously. The teachings within are presented as the "only way" for the purification of beings and the realization of ultimate liberation.
