The White Book

The White Book
by Han Kang is a meditative exploration of life, loss, and memory, structured around the symbolism of the color white. The author reflects on her own history, particularly the life and death of her older sister, who died shortly after birth. Through a series of vignettes, the narrative focuses on white objects and concepts—such as snow, rice, or swaddling bands—using them to symbolize purity, fragility, and the transient nature of existence.
