Understanding Our Mind

Understanding Our Mind
is a transformative work by Thich Nhat Hanh that explores the nature of consciousness through the lens of Buddhist psychology. Drawing on the ancient teachings of the
Store-Consciousness
from the Yogacara school of Buddhism, the book explains how the mind functions, how habits are formed, and how awareness and mindfulness can lead to liberation from suffering.
Thich Nhat Hanh gently guides the reader through the Eight Consciousnesses—ranging from sense perception to deep, subconscious seeds of thought and behavior. With clarity and compassion, he explains how these consciousnesses interact, how they influence our experience, and how we can transform our suffering into insight and healing through mindfulness practice.
